Battle Creek Lodge has an extensive and exciting history in Keystone.

Originally built as the Keystone Fire Hall in the early 1900s, it served the community for years as a fire hall, youth center, and local gathering place. After the Flood in 1972, major reconstruction was required, and the City of Keystone sold the property and what was remaining of the building. It was purchased by the Cordes Family. They ran a mom & pop-type dinner and rented a couple of rooms out. Mr. Cordes was quite the craftsman and used his talents to create some amazing pieces, including the hand-laid rock fireplace that remains a guest favorite to this day.

Twenty years ago, a family with a deep history and rich ties to the Keystone community, the Alexanders, purchased the property and turned it into the Battle Creek Lodge we know today. Battle Creek Lodge takes great pride in staying true to our history and our community. Look for more information on the history of Battle Creek when you visit the lodge or on your next visit to the Keystone Museum.

    Our Amenities

We have a total of ten (10) guest rooms. Six (6) of our rooms have two (2) queen beds in them. Three (3) of the rooms have one (1) king bed along with a small sitting area and a table with 2 chairs. Our last room has one queen bed. All of our rooms have a standard bathroom with a bathtub/shower. Flat-screen TVs, coffee pots, and blow dryers, along with a small area to hang your clothing, can be found in all rooms.

Due to storage constraints, we do not offer rollaway beds or cots. We do have extra bedding available if requested in advance. Fire codes restrict the number of people per room to no more than 5.

We are always trying to better meet the needs of our guests, so please don’t hesitate to call us if you don’t see something you need. We may have it or might be able to make it happen.

Nothing is more beautiful than night time in the Black Hills — EXCEPT standing around a fire at night time in the Black Hills! With that in mind, we made a fantastic addition to Battle Creek Lodge recently with a beautiful outdoor gas fire pit for our guests to enjoy. Sitting on the side deck of the lodge, the fire pit is a perfect place to wind down after an event-filled day. Return home from the lighting ceremony at Mount Rushmore and help the kids make s’mores, or enjoy a glass of wine and some good conversation around the fire.

Fresh Hot Coffee is always available in the lobby during lobby hours.

In an effort to provide more convenience for our guests, we do have a BBQ grill on site for your use.

We feel lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world and we try to share as much of that world with you as we can. We have many sitting areas located around the lodge and the property for our guests to use. We encourage you to use these areas and to walk around and take in the beauty that surrounds you.

The free parking area is directly in front of the lodge and is free for Battle Creek Lodge Guests.

If you are traveling with a trailer or more than one vehicle, please let us know so we can make arrangements to accommodate additional parking if needed
