Leaded or unleaded? Fortunately, whether you’re a coffee aficionado or a budding sommelier, the staff at Grapes & Grinds has you covered. A favorite stop not only in Keystone, South Dakota, but throughout the Black Hills, Grapes & Grinds started as a marriage between fresh-roasted coffee and fine wines. It has now expanded into a family-oriented oasis perfect for relaxing after a long day exploring Keystone.
A hallmark of Grapes & Grinds is their faithfulness to fellow local businesses; their coffee is sourced from Dark Canyon Coffee Company in Rapid City, while most of their wines come from Prairie Berry in Hill City and Firehouse Wine Cellars, also in Rapid City. For those looking for a snack, they carry fare from Black Hills Bagels, as well as oatmeal with various combinations of fruit and spices. The treat not to be missed, however, is their gelato. Hand-crafted in the traditional Italian style, their flavors range from more standard fare like strawberry and peach mango, to more creative blends such as the curiously named Unicorn Dreams. Not sure which flavor is for you? Try as many free samples as needed to make a decision!
On top of the tasty fare offered inside, guests can enjoy a variety of yard games, or watch kids play on the playground equipment from a comfortably appointed patio. Who doesn’t want to try their hand at the oversized chess board while sipping on wine in the shadow of Mount Rushmore? Challenge your friends to a game where the loser buys gelato–better yet, why not challenge someone else and make new friends? South Dakota’s famous hospitality is best experienced over beverages and tasty treats.
For added fun, in the summers Grapes & Grinds regularly hosts musicians from all over the country to jazz up the weekend with some tunes, and has family-friendly movie showings on their lawn. For the brave at heart, the occasional open mic night allows talent of all types to take the stage, with liquid courage conveniently on hand just in case!
