Under Canvas Mount Rushmore Redefines “Glamping”

There are plenty of lodging options in Keystone, but Under Canvas Mount Rushmore is one of the more unique. This luxury campground, tucked beneath towering Ponderosa Pines and Common Juniper in the shadow of Mount Rushmore, brings new meaning to the word "glamping."

Jessica Weissman, Digital Marketing Manager, acknowledges there are a wide variety of campgrounds in the Black Hills, but Under Canvas Mount Rushmore stands apart because of the luxury experience and the connection it provides people—not only to the outdoors, but with their families and loved ones, as well. There are nine different tent options, including separate configurations for kids. The tents feature plush beds with luxurious linens, private bathrooms and decks, organic bath products, and wood burning stoves with complimentary firewood. "Even super outdoorsy, rugged people love our experience because it's a much more luxurious, relaxed version of typical camping," Jessica says. "If you don't want to rough it, it's an excellent opportunity to get all the benefits of camping with the comforts of home."

The luxury tents are only part of the appeal of Under Canvas Mount Rushmore. The company, which was established in 2009, prides itself on its customer service and onsite experiences. The campsite includes a lobby tent and community areas where guests can play outdoor games like Jenga, horseshoes, and corn hole. Complimentary activities such as live music or sunrise yoga overlooking Mount Rushmore are available, as well. Grills are included for those who wish to cook their own meals, but most opt for the onsite culinary experience; trained chefs serve wholesome, nutritious meals that highlight local cuisine and showcase the region's excellent breweries and wineries. No need for purists to worry: complimentary S'mores are included for cooking over the community fire pit.

One thing you won't find at Under Canvas Mount Rushmore is WiFi...and that's intentional. "We want people to disconnect from technology and connect with family and the outdoors," Jessica says.

Under Canvas Mount Rushmore is open until September 28. The 2021 season runs from May 6 – September 27.
