Keystone WYE Construction

The Keystone Wye Bridge is under construction but Keystone IS OPEN!

The South Dakota Department of Transportation has been working on rehabilitating the Keystone Wye bridge at the junction of U.S. Highway 16 and U.S. Highway 16A. The DOT is completely replacing the current bridge decks and preserving various timber parts of the structure.

Traffic has been heavily effected and will continue to be until the project is completed, which is now not projected to be complete until June. Traffic will remain diverted around the bridges to intersection points. If you are coming from Rapid City and heading into Keystone, you will have to continue on HWY 16 into Hill City until you reach a designated u-turn spot in which you will then take the posted exit into Keystone on HWY 16A. If you are coming from Hill City into Keystone, you will simply take the posted exit onto HWY 16A as well. If you are heading into Rapid City from Keystone, you will take the posted exit ramp onto HWY 16. If you are heading into Hill City from Keystone, you will need to take the aforementioned exit onto HWY 16 heading to Rapid City and then perform a u-turn at the designated area to continue on HWY 16 to Hill City.

The City of Keystone and all the businesses in it will remain open and fully functional despite the unfortunate construction delays.
