Continue the Adventure at Big Thunder Family Bar & Grill

After a full day of adventure at Keystone’s Big Thunder Gold Mine, you’ll certainly work up an appetite. Luckily, Keystone’s most complete and original mining experience has thought of everything, including lunch! Even if you don’t explore the mine, the menu at Big Thunder Family Bar & Grill is an adventure in itself.

When you stop in for lunch at the Big Thunder Family Bar & Grill, the options you’ll find are as varied as the surrounding hills. Start out with tried-and-true favorite appetizers like deluxe nachos and onion rings, or try something different with a half dozen delicious duck drumettes. For your main course, you can’t go wrong with one of Big Thunder’s juicy burgers. Take your pick from traditional beef patties, or ramp up your tastebuds with a buffalo or game burger. If you’re more of a fish fan, check out their halibut burger complete with tartar sauce and burger fixings. All are served with hot and crispy fries fresh out of the fryer.

Big Thunder Family Bar & Grill is a fun gathering place for families, whether you’re staying for a meal or just stopping in for ice cream. They’ve brought the outdoors inside with tree trunks artfully dividing the dining room. Walls in the bar area are covered with cross sections of trees that give the restaurant a homey yet funky feel. Outside, their deck is surrounded by trees and the entire place fronts Battle Creek. You can kick back, relax, and enjoy the natural beauty of the Black Hills while your family digs into a tasty meal.

The best part of stopping in at Big Thunder Family Bar & Grill isn’t the food — although the food is worth a stop on its own, don’t get us wrong. The friendly faces you’ll meet while you’re here are what really make it worthwhile. Big Thunder Gold Mine has been part of Keystone since our ragtag beginnings in the late 19th century. Since then, they’ve become a cornerstone of our community. You’ll learn about our town’s history when you come and become part of our family by the time you leave.
